The past few days have really been up and down for Zachary. His CO2 levels have been up as high as 150 and as low as 60. The doctors can't really give us a good explanation for the fluctuations and they were forced to re-intubate Zach following the 150 CO2. The doctors have advised us that it would be best to proceed with Zach's tracheostomy. After a lot of thought we decided that we would go a head with the surgery and it will take place tomorrow.
We have tried to prepare Hailey and Clayton for the operation. This weekend we took the kids out to one of the our friends from the NICU's house. Their son has a tracheostomy and we wanted the kids to see what Zach was going to look like following his surgery. We had a good time and the kids seemed to adjust pretty well to the situation.
Thanks for checking in and please keep our little guy in your prayers.

We'll pray that all goes well with the tracheostomy and that you get to bring that cute baby home soon. We are thinking of you.

We are praying for Zach as well and hope that you all are doing okay. Please call me if I can help with Hailey and Clayton this week or any week for that matter.

We were sad that we missed getting to peek at Zach through the NICU windows today. He just looks so precious in all the pictures. We hope the tracheostomy went smoothly today, and said an extra little prayer after we saw you. Thanks for the constant updates.

The Ritter Family
We hope that this latest development means he will be able to come home sooner and be with his family and those who love him most. I did not read this till after the surgery and hopefully it went well. We continue to pray for all the Allens. You guys are amazing, I am continually impressed with your steadfastness and upbeat attitude. Please update on how Zach did and is doing. We love you all!!!
