Zachary surprised us all this week when he took his first bottle! When a baby has been intabated as long as Zach they commonly develop an aversion to having anything in their mouth. Thankfully he is doing well with it. He is back to being fed every 3 hours rather than the continuous feeds he was on last week. Sometimes he takes his whole feeding from a bottle and sometimes they still feed him through his NG tube. We are encouraged by how well he is doing with the bottle. He's still on CPAP with the same settings. His CO2 has stayed within acceptable limits and his oxygen needs have stayed around 32%. He seems to be hanging in there with it. We're not sure when they'll try him on nasal canula but we'll be sure to update when they do.
