Zachary has recovered pretty well from his tracheostomy surgery. His CO2 levels have come down significantly and he seems to be much more comfortable. We had to recalibrate one of Zach's nurses the other day when she told us Zach had a pretty good gas (his CO2 level was 49). We had to let her know that was the best gas Zach had ever had. We are learning how to do his trache care (a twice a day process) so we can do it right when he comes home. Speaking of coming home, the doctors say we are still at least 4-6 weeks out from that even being a consideration (if all of the variables fall into place). They're saying that he will most likely come home on a ventilator so we are preparing for that.

Zach has had a little bit of an issue getting back on track with his feeds. As the doctors increase his feeds to the level they want him to be he keeps spitting up so they have to back him off again. We are hopeful that he will be able to get back on track and start taking his feeds from the bottle again. He's still growing well for which we are grateful. His current weight is 10 lbs. 2 oz.
